On this episode, Allison Emm talks with Dean Calin from Bounding Main. Dean’s group specializes in arrangements and performances of sea shanties. Diving deeper into the genre of maritime music, Dean gives some insight to the history of sea shanties as they were collected during the American Civil War. This form of niche music has led Dean and his group mates to travel all around the world and perform in many different places, including maritime museums and some renaissance faires.
